As the 2020 event season winds down, we wait with much excitement and anticipation to what the future holds.  With over 25 years in the event industry, our team has seen so many trends come and go. And while there are some trends we hope fade into the sunset (burlap we had a few great years), we look forward to seeing what’s on the horizon for 2021 wedding trends.

2021 Wedding Trends

Weekday Weddings

Venues have started accommodating their brides and grooms for weekday affairs, and we love it. We’ve always been big fans of a weekday wedding. Cross check your calendars and let us know how we can help!

Outdoor/Micro Weddings

Socially distanced and still just as breathtaking; weddings will commonly be held outdoors to accommodate your close family and friends to feel comfortable getting their party on! Take advantage of scenic properties by adding a tent to entertain outdoors. Our newest Tidewater tent may the smallest in our inventory at only 32 x 40 feet, but she can dress up just as nicely as her larger counter parts.

60s, 70s Inspired Bold Looks

Mustard, Rust, Olive and Cocoa tones will be incorporated in color pallets, while velvets and satins will be accents for table settings, lounge furniture and even bridesmaids’ dresses. MPR carries textured linens, rattan accents and bold touches to perfect your vibe.

Calming, Muted Tones

For the understated bride or groom, we will see calming hues to evoke serenity after a year of postponements. Allowing guests and newlyweds to relax in a calming, tranquil environment. Look out for natural-toned pallets that still feel cheerful.

Creative Seating

From creative ceremony seating to lounge vignettes; guests are encouraged to get comfortable throughout the night. We will see living room décor become a staple in wedding receptions. Soft seating allows guests to kick back and savor every moment. One of our sweet brides not only used our Velvet Avery Couch as seating for her guests, but even used it for her wedding portraits – so fun!

Grazing Tables (Cheese is the new cake!)

Charcuterie and crudité spreads are always a good idea.

We will see this savory wedding trend translated to gorgeous tablescapes arranged with florals, specialty meats, artisan breads, dried fruit and a variety of cheeses. Utilize serving utensils to maintain sanitary precautions, along with rustic serving pieces to dress up the table. An alternative trend is pre-packaged charcuterie bites displayed on rentals like our Rosewood Serving Board or our staple Bread Board.

Self-Serve Stations/Interactive Food + Drink

Whether it’s beer on tap, canned beverages or specialty cocktails prepped for convenience and sanitary purposes, self-serve stations eliminate guests waiting in lines and hiring a bar tending service. This provides a more laid-back feel and allows guests to customize their beverage or entrée, rather than a traditional plated course. Our beverage dispensers and vintage coolers are ideal for interactive stations.

Sentimental Touches

With guest counts significantly downsizing and elopements on the rise – brides and grooms will incorporate heart felt sentiments for love ones who can’t physically be there to witness you commit to your forever. Photographs and heirlooms will be even more important to our couples. Our Vintage Cubby is the perfect way to showcase the items that mean the most.

Lighting

Romantic, mood lighting will be a must next season, especially with the rise in outdoor affairs. String lighting or ambient tent lighting creates a magical atmosphere. Our Outdoor Lighting Kit allows couples to achieve an al fresco experience where their guests can dine under the big sky.

Eco-Conscious

Couples are thoughtfully considering the impact weddings take on the environment- and we appreciate the extra thought. Whether it’s buying sustainable attire or renting dinnerware and glassware, brides and grooms are making a conscious effort to entertain sustainably.  We take pride in our rental inventory because it allows clients to reduce, reuse and recycle!
