[Rifle Paper Co. Cards]
Thank You: An expression of one’s generosity and kindness.
I have always had a much easier time getting my feelings across through written words coming from the heart than through speaking. Expressing your genuine appreciation for someone is one of the most simple, inexpensive ways to make that special person feel loved. Whether you are writing a thank you card because you’ve been given a gift, thanking your friends/family for attending your special event, or simply to show someone you appreciate them, remember these few key points:
Secrets to an unforgettable “thank you” card…
1. Handwritten!
2. Let your personality show! Write how you talk. Keep things casual… it sounds more sincere!
3. Start off with an exciting personal story!
EXAMPLE:
Mom,
That amazingly warm sweater saved my life the other day!
Instead of…
Mom,
Thank you so much for the beautiful sweater.
Elaborating on your use of the special gift or a funny story relating to it shows the ‘gifter’ your true appreciation, without even saying thank you. If you were given money, mention how you are going to spend it… assuming it’s appropriate!
4. Stay away from overusing ‘thank you’ and opt for a more creative way of expressing your gratitude.
EXAMPLE:
Your thoughtfulness makes me feel so special, as you continue to remember me on my birthday each year.
5. It’s never too late! … it’s the thought that counts.
A thank you card can be so much more than just a ‘thank you’. The greatest happiness in life comes from your relationships…so I encourage you, this month especially, to send a ‘just because’ thank you card to someone that may not fully know how much you appreciate them in your life.
